Why It Matters

This bill affects individuals with dual citizenship who want to hold high-level government jobs, requiring them to choose between their US citizenship and their other citizenship. It also impacts foreign-born individuals who have become naturalized US citizens but still hold allegiance to their country of origin, as they would be barred from these government positions unless they formally renounce their previous citizenship or allegiance.
